J4 Architecture and Design is a boutique architecture firm based in Arizona, founded on the belief that great design should elevate everyday life. With over two decades of experience, we specialize in custom residential design—from intimate remodels to expansive new builds—crafted with attention to detail, livability, and a deep respect for our desert environment.
Every project is tailored to reflect the individual client’s lifestyle and aesthetic, whether contemporary, traditional, or something uniquely in between. We prioritize passive, energy-saving strategies and thoughtful materials to create spaces that are both beautiful and sustainable.
In addition to our residential work, J4 Architecture also offers design services for tenant improvements and small-scale commercial projects, including clubhouses and community spaces bringing the same personalized, hands-on approach that has earned the trust of our residential clients—ensuring each space is functional, inviting, and designed to last.
A little about Jeannine
Jeannine Engh is the owner and principal architect of J4 Architecture and Design, a Phoenix-based studio focused on creating thoughtful, client-driven spaces that improve lives through smart, beautiful design. With over 25 years of experience in residential and commercial architecture, Jeannine brings a unique blend of creativity, technical precision, and deep code knowledge to every project she touches—from small remodels to award-winning custom homes.
Originally from the Chicago area, Jeannine earned her architecture degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee before relocating to Arizona in 2003, where she built her career working with acclaimed firms like PHX Architecture and Candelaria Design. In 2019, she founded J4 Architecture to offer clients a more personal and responsive design experience.
Jeannine is passionate about housing access and sustainability, and she actively supports nonprofit initiatives to provide permanent housing for the chronically homeless and disabled. Her work is grounded in a deep respect for context, climate, and craft—and driven by the belief that architecture should enhance how people live, work, and connect. When she's not in the studio or on-site, you’ll find Jeannine in her garden, experimenting in the kitchen, or hanging out with her kids and dogs.
